Italian wine regions are at the heart of everything we do at Donzella Wines. From the north to the south of Italy, every region tells a different story through its families, grapes and traditions. We don’t choose regions based on trends – we choose producers who make truly special wines.
The kings and queens of the Italian wine world.
Wines that melt in your mouth.
Big flavour.
Real aroma.
Beautiful texture.
Pure fruit expression.
Every Italian region has a story.
But what matters to us most is the family behind the bottle.
From north to south, coast to mountains, volcanic soils to rolling hills – every region produces something unique. Our job is to find the families making something special and bring their wines to the UK.
Why Every Region Matters to Us
We genuinely care about every single Italian region.
Each one offers different climates, soils, grapes and traditions. But the common thread is always the same – family.
Small producers.
Hands in the fields.
Real people harvesting grapes.
Not factories.
Not mass production.
Not rushed wine.
That is what we stand for.
Campania – Home of Our Roots
Campania will always be special to us.
Giovanni grew up in Camposasso, in a household rooted in farming. Not vineyards – but real land work. Vegetables. Dairy. Produce. A proper Italian upbringing where food, family and hard work came first.
That upbringing shaped how he views wine today.
Campania is full of old vines, historic grapes and deep traditions.
Aglianico is one of Giovanni’s favourites from the region – powerful, structured and often called the Barolo of the south. But truthfully, he loves them all.
What makes Campania special is the families working the land, grapes harvested properly, bottles made with care and no big factories or shortcuts.
This is real Italy.
Veneto – Our Special Relationship
Veneto matters to us because of Boronvini.
We have a special relationship with Sabrina, who runs Boronvini. The care she puts into her wines genuinely shows in every bottle.
Our customers love her wines.
We love her wines.
And the feedback proves it.
From crisp whites to expressive reds, Veneto delivers elegance and balance – and Boronvini is a perfect example of what we look for in a producer.
Tuscany – A Personal Favourite
Nicholas has a soft spot for Tuscany.
Especially Chianti from Tenuta Canneta.
Smooth.
Full of flavour.
A real expression of the Sangiovese grape.
Nicholas loves speaking with Chiara and Giacomo, the family behind Tenuta Canneta. Their relationship grew so strong that Giovanni ended up buying an entire mixed pallet from them.
Lots of Chianti.
Lots of Toscana Rosso.
Big sellers in the restaurant.
That tells you everything.
Helping Customers Discover Regions
Most customers don’t walk in knowing what region they want.
That’s where Nicholas and Giovanni get creative.
They both love to say,
“Let’s have a bit of fun.”
They explore what food you like, light vs bold wines, fruit-forward styles or structured reds, then guide you across Italy – tasting, learning and discovering together.
That is what makes Donzella different.
Our Future Plans
We’re growing.
We want a bigger warehouse.
We’re expanding from 160 wines to 200.
More small producers.
More hidden gems.
More education.
More wine events.
We work closely with sommeliers and producers to keep bringing the best wines to the UK.
Our Philosophy
We don’t choose regions.
We choose showstoppers.
Wines that excite us.
Wines that excite customers.
Wines that tell a story.
Wines that represent families.
Wines that respect tradition.
From our family vineyards,
to Donzella Wines,
to your table.
Every bottle has a story.
And we’re proud to tell it.
