Pupillo Targetta is a beautifully fresh and expressive Sicilian white wine made entirely from Catarratto Bianco Lucido, one of Sicily’s oldest and most characterful native grapes. Grown in the volcanic soils just outside Syracuse — on land once protected by the ancient walls of Castello Eurialo — this wine captures the true flavour of Sicily’s coastline and its sun-drenched, mineral-rich terrain.
In the glass, Targetta shows a deep straw-yellow colour with golden reflections. The aromas are instantly inviting: zagara blossom, ripe golden apple, white peach and subtle citrus notes, all carried by a clean mineral edge. It’s aromatic without being perfumed — unmistakably Sicilian, with a sense of place that’s impossible to fake.
On the palate, the wine is dry, crisp and wonderfully fresh. You’ll find flavours of orchard fruit, peach, lemon zest and gentle floral notes, wrapped in a lively volcanic minerality that gives the wine its energy and precision. The finish is sapid, clean and refreshing — making this a seriously food-friendly white.
Pupillo farms just one hectare of Catarratto for this wine, facing north-south and planted in 2010. The grapes are hand-picked, softly crushed, cold-settled for 24–48 hours, and fermented at controlled temperatures in stainless steel to preserve absolute purity of flavour. Production is modest, at around 7,000 bottles per year, which keeps quality firmly at the centre.
