With the cuvée of Croatina in combination with Barbera and Merlot, Cantina Romagnoli has achieved the optimal balance of the grape varieties used. An intense bouquet in the glass: crisp red fruits, sour cherries and a hint of roasted wood. The sophisticated development of the Caravaggio Rosso ensures a good structure and a very special minerality with subtle residual sugar. Great all-rounder with the highest score from Luca Maroni.

Grape variety:

Croatina, Barbera and Merlot. Production method:
Harvesting the ripe grapes by hand in boxes. Approx. 20% of the Croatina grapes are harvested later in order to obtain a higher concentration of sugar and aromas. Gentle crushing and destemming as well as a 5-6 day maceration in contact with the skins at a controlled temperature of 28-30°C. The wine is turned over 3 times a day. The individual wines are aged in French oak barriques over a period of 12 months. Special feature: Romagnoli uses new wood to age the Croatina portion, which was obtained from the overripe grapes!

Color:
Deep ruby red.

Bouquet:
Complex and elegant with hints of crisp red fruits. There is also a clear sour cherry note, a hint of roasted wood and pickled cherries at the end.

Taste:

Smooth, fresh, with good acidity and a nice tannin concentration. The subtle residual sugar ensures pleasant drinking pleasure and a remarkable length of taste.

Storage:

The Michelangelo da Caravaggio Rosso IGT can mature for 5-6 years after the harvest.

Serving temperature:
Serve the Michelangelo da Caravaggio Rosso IGT at 16-18°C.

Serving suggestion:
The Michelangelo da Caravaggio Rosso IGT goes excellently with pasta with meat or mushroom sauce, second courses with meat and game as well as with mature cheese.
